A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.

About this process
Stord kommune har starta arbeidet med å laga ny kulturplan og i samband med dette ynskjer me dialog og innspel frå innbyggjarane i kommunen. Kulturplanen skal bli det overordna kulturpolitiske dokumentet og skal visa kva visjonar og mål Stord kommune har for utvikling av dei ulike kunst- og kulturområda i åra som kjem.
For at planen skal bli god, må ulike meiningar og ynskjer koma fram. Ei tidleg involvering av innbyggjarar og relevante aktørar er viktig for forankring av planen. Det blir invitert til ein aktiv medverknad i form av møter med det lokale kulturlivet og andre representantar frå ulike kunst- og kulturfelt, det er viktig å sikre brei medverknad frå ulike aldersgrupper.
